Welcome to the McAllen TOMS Shoes Style Your Sole Event brought to you by Mis Zapatitos, a charitable organization founded and operated by Hannah Flicker of McAllen, Texas. Here is a little information about the event, the participants and people who helped realize this dream.
ABOUT
Basically, the Style Your Sole Event is a big shoe painting party. No, we are not painting pictures of shoes. We are painting on shoes, the coolest shoes around, TOMS Shoes. Over 120 pair of white TOMS Shoes have been purchased by donors and friends. At the party, we will have art supplies to paint and decorate the shoes. There will be snacks, live music and plenty of fun. And the best thing about it is that for every pair of TOMS Shoes purchased, TOMS will give a pair to a child in need. How cool is that!
GRULLA ELEMENTARY SHOE DONATION
The entire 5th grade at Grulla Elementary School in La Grulla, Texas will get free tickets to the Style Your Sole Event which includes their own pair of TOMS shoes and a chance to decorate them any way they want. Tickets are being provided by "SHOE ANGELS" in our community. What's so great about being a SHOE ANGEL is that, not only do you buy TOMS shoes for a deserving Grulla 5th Grader, but another child in need somewhere in the world will get a pair of TOMS shoes. It's like a double charitable gift for only $25. Wow! So far we have 79 SHOE ANGELS, but we need more. If you want to be a SHOE ANGEL and sponsor some of the Grulla 5th graders, please click on the "DONATE" button at the bottom of the page or contact Hannah at the phone number or email listed below.
RENEE'S OF SHARYLAND
We are so happy to announce that Renee's of Sharyland will be joining us for the McAllen Style Your Sole TOMS Shoes event. Renee's is one of the most socially responsible businesses in the Valley. They are always helping out when they can including their yearly Thanksgiving feast when they feed a free Thanksgiving meal to over 1500 people in need. That is so great. Well, they are an official TOMS Shoes retailer and so they have agreed to bring their shoes to the Style Your Sole Event to sell to participants. From each pair sold, Renee's will donate a portion to our event, plus, of course, TOMS Shoes will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. Thank you Renee's of Sharyland.
SILENT AUCTION
Just when you thought it could not get any better, it does. Several well known local artists have agreed to paint a Pair of TOMS shoes and donate them to be sold at a silent auction at the Style Your Sole Event. The list of artists includes Carl Vestweber, Paul Valadez, Wendy Gilbert and more ! We can't wait to see what their super creative minds come up with as designs for TOMS shoes. LIVE MUSIC
We are pleased that several outstanding local musicians are joining us for the TOMS Shoes Style Your Sole Event. Angel Rodriguez, Phillip Prukop and others will be entertaining everyone while they paint beautiful designs on their new TOMS Shoes.
HANNAH GETS TO MEET TOMS
Hannah Flicker, founder of Mis Zapatitos, was invited to tour the world headquarters of TOMS Shoes in California. She met with Julie Steinbeis, Project Manager, Marketing and Events, to discuss the McAllen Style Your Sole Event. Ms. Steinbeiss stated that she was very excited about our event, especially the participation of the entire 5th grade of Grulla Elementary School in La Grulla, Texas.

OUR SHOE ANGELS
We are so excited that the ENTIRE 5th grade of Grulla Elementary School will be coming to the event and painting their own TOMS shoes. AWESOME! This will be a great way to start the Christmas season for these kids. It's all possible because of the donations made by our SHOE ANGELS who have generously sponsored the purchase of tickets for the La Grulla 5th grade. Thank you Angels, so much! BE A SHOE ANGEL
Although the cost to participants was only $25, the TOMS shoes actually cost $44. Our organization is making up the difference with generous donations from the community. We decided to do this because this part of Texas is one of the poorest in the nation. We wanted to make it affordable for kids to buy a pair of TOMS Shoes and decorate them at the Style Your Sole Event. If you want to be a SHOE ANGEL and help buy shoes for the kids at Grulla Elementary School, or help defray the costs of our event, click on the button below and donate.
